– If you watch the video [Flash-only warning], you’ll learn that the Japanese CEO of the 10th largest airline in the world also pays his pilots more than himself and takes the bus to work. This absolutely blew me away. If you watch Michael Moore’s “Capitalism: A Love Story,”...

The Audi R8 (GT5)
Since it’s blessed arrival from my parents-in-law on Christmas day, I’ve been playing a lot of Gran Turismo 5 - and really really enjoying it. Some people claim that the realism isn’t fun enough, but for a washed up car nut like myself, it’s fantastic! For me GT5 is all about collecting and driving cars I could never own in real life. As such, I’ve bought a Ferrari...

Some Japanese Treats
Yesterday we had some fun Japanese treats that we haven’t had really since we left back in October. We made Onigiri, Ramen, Yuki Ichigo (lit. “Snow Strawberries”) and drank some Ramune. It was all pretty good though not quite what it was in Japan with the exception of the Ramune drink. We got all the ingredients locally so you could do the same I’m sure. We got the ramen...

Whoops.
So as you may have noticed….I didn’t updated on Day 10 of the diet. Here’s why. When I stepped on the scale on day 10, I was a whole 2 pounds lighter. But we were pretty tired of the diet thing and decided to follow it’s principles, but go ahead and open up the menu. That night we had lobster and shrimp. It was AWESOME! But when I stepped on the scale on day 11, I was right...

Last Night of This Crap! I'm Eating Cake!
Those words just came out of my wife’s mouth. I think it shows our distain for this diet, but it has certainly been eye-opening. We weigh-in tomorrow and I’ll post my results over on the sidebar. Tomorrow we continue the diet, but move on to phase 2 where our options grow to include certain seafood, chicken, and some sweets. For me the toughest part has been the lack of meat in my...

Fat Smash Day 8: Almost There!
Meat is in sight! We’ve been getting pretty tired of such a limited diet, especially Christina. However, we are pressing on. Christina has been doing a great job at finding us new meals to eat. On Friday we went to a local Thai restaurant called That 99 and broke the diet a tiny bit to eat white rice, but they didn’t have any brown. But the food was delicious! Yesterday our workout was...

Day 5: Half-way!
We’re still going! Things have gotten easier physically, but I was reminded today as my friends went out to Sushi that my diet is extremely limited. I’m glad this part is only 9 days. Soon I will be able to eat fish and chicken!

Fat Smash Day 2: Not so bad now
Today was a bit better than yesterday. We both felt noticably less tired and made it through the day fine. As far as what we ate, there’s not too much to share and I’m going to try and keep this post short. Our “dessert” tonite was interesting. We had cooked pears with some cinnamon and brown sugar on top. This was the only processed sugar we had, so I think we’re...

Fat Smash Day 1: I Think My Lungs Are Going to...
Today was rough. It was our first day without our “normal” foods and I felt hungry most of the day. Thankfully, working from home allowed me to snack whenever I could drag myself away from the computer. Breakfast For breakfast I normally have cereal. Today I had some plain oatmeal with a little less than a teaspoon of sugar (which is actually again the diet rules, but aspartame is...

Fat Smash Day 0: I Think I'm Going to Starve!
Today my wife and I went to the grocery store to get qualifying food for Phase 1 of the “Fat Smash” diet. This diet is a 90-day program built around smart food choices and exercise. For phase 1, we’re basically only allowed raw fruits and vegetables. It specifically says NO breads, meats, or cheeses for 9 days. 9 DAYS! …of NO meat!? Those 3 things are my sustenance. I...

Waking Up the Sleeping Dragon (read: "Blog")
I’ve been sitting on this tumblr account for a while, debating whether or not to use it. I feel like I finally have a decent reason to post here and not under my Painted Digital name/business. My wife and I have decided to try a diet. We’ve never actually tried a diet before and the one we’ve chosen seems to be harsh. So I’ve decided to write about the experience here in...
